Home decor, like fashion- is always changing and evolving into what is the next big trend. And like in fashion, you should take what you like from what the pros say is trendy in home decor, and leave the rest. Your home should be a place you feel comfortable in, no matter what the experts say. But if you are looking for some new ideas to freshen up your space- I’ve got a few of the top design trends in home decor for 2018 to share with you!
1. Bold Colors
Rich jewel tones are showing up on walls and trim throughout interiors this year. All white interiors are on the way out, as people are opting for more vibrant pops of color in their spaces.
Sherwin Williams’ 2018 Color of the Year is Oceanside SW 6496, which is an intense shade of blue-green.
And Pantone the color experts, have chosen Ultra Violet 18-3838 as their pick for the it color this year.
If you’re not brave enough to paint your walls a peacock teal color right away, opt for a pillow or throw in a rich jewel tone to add a little luxury to your space!
2. Mixed Metallic
Modern, eclectic choices such as a hammered copper light fixture over a kitchen island, is being paired with sleek chrome faucets and cabinet hardware. To add even more visual interest, try layering the metals in your space- through hardware, lamps, furniture and accessories. Also look for unexpected finishes in lighting, hardware, etc. in matte black, satin brass and black nickel.
Also…brass is back. I’m personally not a big fan- but this bathroom might just be changing my mind 😉
Yellow is a color you will see a lot of in home decor this year, and it’s making a big impact. From bright yellow sofas, to accent pillows or side tables, look for yellow to be a fresh and happy staple in interior design for 2018.
4. Bold Floral Prints
While floral prints are a main staple in home decor, the ones you will see trending this year are less traditional and more bold and funky. They feel a little more casual and fresh when paired with organic textures and neutral palettes. It’s like bohemian meets elegance! But if you’re not ready to dive into floral covered furniture for your space, you could test the waters with a bold floral print pillow or bedding.
5. Applied Trim
This trend is really fun, and something you could easily DIY yourself. Applied trim is showing up everywhere on furniture, walls, and ceilings. It can be very detailed or more simple, but either way- it makes a big impact.
So that’s a few of the trends you’ll see in home decor this year…what do you think?!? Will any of them be making their way into your space this year??
Hope you have a fabulous day friends!!
